Toyota announces voluntary safety recall in Canada

Toyota has announced a voluntary safety recall on Friday in Canada, which has affected about 4,774 units of the "tray-type" floor mat sold as an optional accessory for some vehicles.
These vehicles include certain types of 2007-2010 Tundra, 2008-2010 Highlander and 2008-2010 Highlander Hybrid.
When the "tray-type" floor mat is unsecured or not properly installed in the driver' s position, there is a potential risk for the accelerator pedal to get stuck in the wide open position, Toyota said in an announcement.
"The optional accessory 'tray-type' floor mat was sold and distributed in Canada only - it is not available in any other market," it stressed.
Toyota asked customers to remove the optional accessory "tray-type" floor mat from the driver' s position and not to replace it with any other floor mat. Customers may also contact their Toyota dealer for assistance.
The announcement also notes that all affected customers will be notified by mail and provided instructions on how to obtain a reimbursement.
