The curtain of 1st APEC ECBA Forum falls

With great supports from the Ministry of Commerce of The People's Republic of China and APEC E-Commerce Business Alliance, the 1st APEC E-Commerce Business Alliance Forum, which was held during June 15-16, 2004 at Yantai Shangdong, has come to a successful close. The forum was initiated in APEC Ministerial Meeting held in Bangkok last March and organized by Department of Information technology of Ministry of Commerce and China International E-Commerce Centre. Vice General-Director of APEC Secretarial Department Choi Seok, Young made speech in the closing ceremony of the 1st APEC ECBA Forum.

In his address, Mr. Choi Seok, Young reviewed the history of APEC as well as praised the efforts made by APEC member economies in promoting e-commerce and accelerating the economic growth in Asia-Pacific region. He also emphasized the importance of coordination and cooperation in pushing forward the application of paperless trade among APEC members.

"A number of constructive propositions has been suggested in the forum," Mr. Choi remarked, "and I firmly believe that these suggestions will dramatically improved the work of e-commerce steering group."

Choi also expressed his appreciation of the hospitality offered by Yantai government and Shandong province government. At the end, he commended the preparation and organizing work and congratulated the successful close of the 1st APEC ECBA Forum.
